Purchasing a home is often one of the biggest investments a person or couple will make. It’s business, but it’s also personal: a place for family and friends to gather, a place to raise children, a place to entertain, a place to unwind after work, a place to pursue hobbies, a place to make new friends, a place to express the homeowners’ personality.
I like to think of myself as a matchmaker. There’s a perfect home out there for every client. It’s my job to find it and put the two together. But first, I have to make sure they’re compatible. That’s the business part.
How much should the client spend? What are the best financing options? What’s the property worth relative to the comps? How accessible is it to shopping? To parks and recreation? To medical care? To major highways? Once that’s decided, the love match can move forward.
The contract is like a pre-nup. When buying a home, it’s particularly important, and I guide my clients through a checklist. My goal? A happily-ever-ending, at least until my clients need or choose to find their next perfect love match.
